Unearthing the Mythical in Cosmic Horror

June 30, 2023

Defrocked archæologist Dr Julián Corbín finds himself on the margin after defending a controversial find: serving his life sentence as a museum curator while caught within an escalating cycle of charismatic visions. Death stalks the city, leaving a blood trail that grows ever closer. It wears a face he cannot see, and he cannot guess how close it already is. How close it always was.

Grendel Wept leaps forth from a literary tradition started by the surreal Hermeticism of Poe and Machen; the ill-starred Gothic of Byron, the Shelleys; and the twilit fin de siècle of Wilde and Maldoror. It is the struggle of Man and the cosmic Other, juxtaposed with Man’s struggle against himself, first spelled out in the earliest oral myths of Titanian cosmology, now given novel form.

C. P. Serret has an expansive background in the arts and technology, from graphic design to IT and robotics.
